Choose Your Best Way to Whiten

At Kennebunk Center for Dentistry, our LVI-trained cosmetic dentists have a variety of professional tooth whitening options for you to choose from. These safe and effective whitening systems can get your teeth up to 12 shades whiter, giving you a bright smile that far surpasses results you may have experienced with drugstore tooth whiteners. Stains from red wine, berries, coffee, tea, and nicotine can be lifted in about an hour. Discolored teeth can be brightened in a quick and painless visit to our office — or choose the take-home whitening option for a flexible solution.

Here is some brief information about your whitening choices:

Zoom! In-Office Whitening System: The Zoom! System, made popular through “Extreme Makeover” and other media displays, is a one-hour procedure that can dramatically enhance the appearance of your smile. During the treatment, a safe, patented whitening gel is applied to your teeth, and then the Zoom! light speeds up the whitening process. Clients average results that are nine to 12 shades whiter than their original tooth shade. The Zoom! whitening method is so popular throughout the country because it works — and with less sensitivity than other branded methods. You will also get to take home a Zoom! whitening kit for future touch-ups.

Take-Home System: After a full mouth evaluation, your dentist will take impressions of your upper and lower teeth. From the impressions, custom-fitted mouthpieces are created in our lab for you to wear at home. When you stop by to pick up your whitening kit, your dentist will give you a detailed explanation of the whitening process, show you how to place the gel into the trays, and let you know when to visit our office again for a progress check. Take your new whitening kit and start whitening for quick results. When you feel you have achieved your ideal shade, you can simply stop wearing the tooth whitening trays. Since each client’s starting point is different, the amount of times you’ll need to wear the trays will depend on your desired results. Any leftover whitening gel can be used for periodic touch-ups to keep your smile bright.

Another Whitening Option

For some people, teeth whitening may not give ideal results.  If your teeth are deeply discolored, or if they have other common cosmetic dental problems like gaps, chips, or crookedness, porcelain veneers may be a better option for getting the smile you want, since they can simultaneously correct discoloration and shape problems.
