Why You Need General Dentistry
Left to Right: Ann Keely, Sue Patnaude, Lila Wittman
General dentistry is the field of dentistry that focuses on preventative care to help maintain a healthy smile. When you let our skilled Kennebunk dentists get a close-up view of your teeth and gums on a regular basis, you are improving your odds that any problems will be caught early — hopefully before they have time to do harsh or irreversible damage. There are so many aspects of your oral health that you cannot see or monitor effectively with the naked eye. If you are not keeping up with your semi-annual dental visits, you may end up paying for the neglect later.
Good General Dentistry Is Aesthetic Dentistry
At our dental practice, our dentists believe that the key to a beautiful smile lies in what’s actually behind the smile, or how healthy and well-cared-for your teeth and gums are. Your smile reflects the kind of home care you maintain, as well as the level of professional care and quality of general dentistry you have received. This makes general dentistry an ideal complement to cosmetic dentistry.
The Scope of General Dentistry
General dentistry involves evaluation of oral health, including teeth, gums, the jaw joints and “bite”, and oral tissue. It is the duty of our experienced Maine general dentistry team to evaluate the inner workings of your mouth carefully, and to identify, diagnose, and treat any potential detrimental conditions or diseases.
At Kennebunk Center for Dentistry, our general dentists offer a wide variety of general dentistry services, including dental hygiene, periodontics, endodontics, and oral cancer screening. It is also a goal of our dentists to maintain or improve optimal esthetics, so our clients can smile with pride.
For clients with small to medium areas of decay, our dentists place composite resin fillings (dental bonding) to help restore teeth after decay removal. These nonmetal fillings help protect and strengthen teeth, and are covered by most major insurance plans. They are also tooth-colored to match your shade and create a very natural result.
Most importantly, our aim is to make sure each client understands what having a healthy mouth means and is empowered with the proper knowledge and tools to achieve a healthy and beautiful smile.
If you are due for your dental check-up, do not put your smile health on the back burner. Please contact our Kennebunk general dentist today to set up a thorough oral health evaluation.
